Professor Dr. Sabeel Khan Shinwari, a faculty member of the Economics Department at Government Postgraduate College Landi Kotal and a resident of Sheikhmal Khel village of Landi Kotal, district Khyber has successfully completed his PhD in Economics from Islamia College University Peshawar.
He successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled, “Quasi-fiscal activities in Pakistan’s electricity sector: Quantification and their impact on electricity supply and fiscal deficits.”
The research provides a comprehensive analysis of the scale of quasi-fiscal activities in Pakistan’s power sector and examines their economic implications, effects on electricity supply, and contribution to the country’s fiscal deficit.
The study is being regarded as a significant academic contribution to understanding the challenges facing Pakistan’s energy and public finance sectors.
The research was supervised by Dr. Fazal Wahid while the external examiners were Prof. Dr. Anwar Hussain and Prof. Dr. Ghaffar Ali.
Following the successful defense of his thesis, Dr. Sabeel Khan Shinwari was formally awarded the doctoral degree.
Academics, educationists, and members of civil society have congratulated him on this remarkable achievement, describing it as a matter of pride for Khyber district, particularly Landi Kotal.
He attributed his success to his hard work and prayers of his family and well-wishers.
