PESHAWAR
A spectacular Dragon Boat Festival was organized at the scenic riverside location of Sardaryab in District Charsadda under the auspices of Pak-China Window and with the support of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority on Sunday.
The event attracted a large number of government officials, district administration representatives, heads of various institutions, athletes and large number of public.
Among the distinguished guests were Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adil Iqbal, Iftikhar Ullah, Program Coordinator Malik Amjad Aziz, Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Dr. Azmatullah Khan Wazir, ADC Ms. Rina, and notable personalities.
The festival featured exciting dragon boat races on the Kabul River, with renowned boating athletes from across Pakistan participating in the competitions. The thrilling races were highly appreciated by spectators.
At the conclusion of the event, trophies, shields, and other prizes were awarded to outstanding performers.
The participants also celebrated 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship by chanting slogans in support of the enduring relationship between the two countries.
Addressing the gathering, speakers described Pakistan-China friendship as timeless and unbreakable, emphasizing that the 75-year relationship is “higher than the Himalayas and stronger than rocks.” They highlighted China’s role as a trusted friend of Pakistan and described CPEC and economic cooperation as shining examples of the strong partnership between the two nations.
The speakers expressed pride that Charsadda had earned the distinction of hosting Pakistan’s first-ever Dragon Boat Festival, calling it a significant honor for the district.
On the occasion, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Adil Iqbal announced the establishment of a Family Park at Sardaryab and pledged further development of the area as a major tourist destination.
He also announced that the second Dragon Boat Festival, organized by Pak-China Window will be held at Khanpur Dam.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening Pakistan-China friendship and expanding cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.
