PESHAWAR
The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued the schedule for the by-elections for the vacant seats of Chairman Tehsil Council Haveliyan, Abbottabad and Tehsil Council Mathra, Peshawar.
According to which the polling will be held on August 6, 2023. Public notice will be issued on July 7, 2023. Candidates can submit their nomination papers from 10th July to 12th July 2023.
The list of candidates who have submitted nomination papers will be released on 13th July 2023.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held from 14th July to 16th July 2023. Appeals against acceptance and rejection of nomination papers can be filed from 17th July to 18th July 2023.
These appeals will be decided by 20th July 2023. The revised list of candidates will be released on 21st July 2023.
Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till 22nd July 2023. On July 23, 2023, the final list of candidates will be issued and election symbols will be allotted to them. Polling will be held on August 6, 2023. The Returning Officers will announce the final results on 8th August 2023.
Additionally, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a code of conduct with the issuance of the schedule. According to which, the promotions and transfers of government employees in these districts have been banned.
While the Prime Minister, Speaker/Deputy Speaker of the National and Provincial Assemblies, federal and provincial ministers, public representatives cannot visit the councils concerned and make announcements of development projects there.
