PESHAWAR: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notice to federal minister Azam Khan Swati, Federal Minister Railway over violating the code of conduct ahead of the second phase of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The ECP’s District Monitoring Officer Mansehra Hayatullah Jan issued the notices to the Federal Minister Railway and asked them to appear before him personally or through an attorney to clarify their position on breach of rules\code within three days. The notice served on Azam Sawati stated that as a federal minister you are not allowed to attend public gatherings ahead of local government elections in KP. The Federal Minister had attended a public gathering at Mansehra district to support its party candidate in the second round of local government election. “The executive authorities in the federation and in the provinces and elected representatives of national and provincial assemblies shall neither use state resources in any circumstances where election is being held for unfair advantage of a particular candidates or political party nor exercise utilize influence affecting the interest of a candidate or party for participating in any election,” said the notice.
