Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Khalid Khan Tuesday said that in the present era, journalism is the name of overcoming difficulties and challenges and working in harsh conditions and environment affects both body and mind.
This he said while addressing the closing ceremony of the two weeks long Ramadan Sports Festival jointly organized by Khyber Union of Journalists, Peshawar Press Club, Rehman Medical Institute and Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wherein the journalists community largely participated in five different Games including Table Tennis, Badminton, Snooker, Ludo and Carrom Board.
He said entertainment activities are indispensable for journalists and working in harsh conditions and environments affects both body and mind and certainly sports activities refresh both physically and mentally.
Keeps both body and mind fresh and energetic, recreational and sports activities are indispensable for every class as well as for journalists. President Peshawar Press Club M Riaz, General Secretary Shahzada Fahad, President Khyber Union of Journalist Nasir Hussain, General Secretary Imran Yousafzai, RMI Sports Manager Sajid Durrani and spokesperson Syed Shabir Hussain were present on the occasion. There were a large number of journalists enthusiastically participating.
Overall, the cameraman journalists won three of the five games, the reporters in two and the sub-editor in one. According to the results, in the snooker final, reporter Kamran Ali won against photo journalist Zeeshan Liaqat. In table tennis, reporter Abdul Rehman won the title by defeating cameraman Abid Ali. In badminton, sub-editor Muhammad Ali Sheikh and cameraman Abbas Ali won against reporter Iftikhar and Usman Danish. In Ludo, cameraman Naeem Babar was the winner against reporter Irshad Ali while cameraman Zahid Hussain was the winner against photojournalist Shehzad Ahmed.
Participated in five different sports. DG Sports Khalid Khan said that he was happy to see the journalists engaging in healthy activities like sports. He announced the provision of gym equipment for journalists at the Peshawar Press Club besides assured all out support. He also urged the journalists to keep on playing sports to avoid routine hectic work.
