PESHAWAR
The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday directed the District Police Officer (DPO) Kurram to implement the election code and expel provincial minister for relief rehabilitation and settlement Muhammad Iqbal Wazir from Kurram district, where by-polling for the National Assembly seat, NA- 45 will be held on Oct 30.
A letter in this regard was issued by ECP provincial office to the DPO Kurram and district returning officer, district monitoring officer and returning officers asking them to implement an ECP’s order issued for the expulsion of minister Muhammad Iqbal Wazir from the district over the repeated violation of the code of conduct announced by the commission for the upcoming by-election in the district.
DPO Kurram after its formal investigation informed the ECP that the provincial minister at Parachinar Upper Kurram constituency NA-46 Kurram-II whiles the election codes did not apply.
“However, DSP headquarters has been strictly directed for implementation of the code of conduct of election in letter and spirit,” DPO added.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for by-election on the vacant seat of NA-45 Kurram-I.
According to the schedule, the polling for the vacant seat will be held on the 30th of this month.
The Kurram by-election was originally postponed from Oct 16 due to the law and order situation in the constituency.
