PESHAWAR
Muhammad Faiq Shah, founder and chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party called for enforcement of sustainable economic policies to promote business and trade and create job opportunities in the country.
Talking to a group of leading businessmen attached to the real estate sector on Saturday, Shah lamented that no facility was provided to industrialists, traders, poor people and working class/labourers, Shah said.
Infrastructure is dismantled whereas financial structure confronts with uncertainty, he added.
Faiq went on to say that the cotton market, manufacturing and production sector adversely affected the prevailing circumstances and industrial and business growth has slowed down, while many units halted production, generating massive unemployment in the country.
He noticed inflation has touched a new peak while tax-money was lavishly spent on their heavy-extravagances.
Keeping in view the prevailing scenario, Shah emphasized that there was a need to give topmost priority to merit, professional skills and honesty but results would come when rulers can quell out from their personal politics and interests.
Today, questions have been raised on FBR that increase uncertainty with each passing day, he said, adding that for the one window operation, business and trade should be brought under a single net, calling for launching of a fast-track system throughout the country.
Whenever the country confronts corruption, feeble economy and public issues then first glance comes on financial institutions particularly FBR, saying like other institutions, rulers have also used FBR for personal purposes that has exhilarated deep roots of corruption, nepotism, bribery and favoritism.
The ATP chief said the polarized politics has not only destroyed the institutions and the country as whole.
Shah said the government miscalculates figures like such bureaucracy but no one analyzes performance, realities and capabilities.
There is no sustainability in policies as changes are coming after one month, he said, adding the business community, investors and industrialists were not left on one side.
Instead of expanding tax-base, he said sales and service taxes have been enhanced for the poor masses.
