Faiq demands reforms in police, ‘Thana’ culture

Muhammad Faiq Shah, founder and chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party demanded reforms in police/Thana culture, removal of bribes and nepotism to ensure better service, justice and law to people.
Shah made this demand through a resolution unanimously endorsed during a meeting of the party’s central executive council held here on Saturday.
The meeting was attended by central leaders Awais Khan, Ishiaq Elahi, and others.
The meeting discussed a comprehensive plan for reforms in police at central and provincial level.
Participants of the meeting were unanimous to change the current police system and asked to conduct analysis as per capabilities of the institutions.
On the occasion, the meeting suggested launching training programs for police and other governmental institutions.
Speakers said changing the policing system won’t come by wearing a police uniform.
They asked to halt promotion of people through nepotism and favoritism and appeaser.
Merit policy should be enforced by following education and training, the participants stressed.
They were of the view that today, SHO has made his jurisdiction slave by becoming king in the area and injustice was carried out with powerless and poor people.
They opined it is far away to give assurance, registering an FIR is a daunting task for ordinary citizens.
Faiq addressed members of the council and said culture of favoritism and nepotism has destroyed police and other institutions and their performance is completely zero.
The ATP chief asked for posting and transfer of senior officials by following principles of the right man for the right job.
He emphasized the need for conducting police ethical, legal and technical training, without the police culture system will be part of the current cruel system and people cannot get justice as well.
Shah asked to link police with the latest system.
