Faiq flays govt for dropping ‘petrol bomb’ on poor masses

PESHAWAR: Chairman, Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) Muhammad Faiq Shah lashed out at the government over yet again dropping a petrol bomb on inflation-stricken people. Talking to various delegations including traders, social and political activists and lawyers here on Thursday, Mr Shah said as a result of Rs9 per litre increase in petrol would increase prices, which will hit all segments of the society miserably. He criticized the government for snatching the right to live from poor masses. Shah also slammed the government for frequent increase in power tariff. He noted the cost of doing business has increased manifold after frequent increases in petroleum products, electricity and gas tariff. The ATP chief said businessmen, industrialists, labour, salaried and working class, daily wagers, almost all segments have adversely affected by government policies. He said trade, export and business are consistently descending. He added the government has no clear roadmap or policy to put the economy on the right track. Faiq asked rulers to revisit its policies and make them pro-poor and business-friendly. He said rulers have merely kept focused on gaining power, protection of personal vested interests and business. The ATP chief commented on the crippling economy, stating that global financial indicators/orgs have shown pessimism on good economic prospects in Pakistan despite availing IMF fresh tranche. He stressed tapping natural resources, improving export, investment and trade to stabilize the national economy.
Shah called for synergic efforts under a single platform to overcome the crisis.
The ATP chief emphasized a clear roadmap should be crafted for bringing economic stability.
Shah stressed pragmatic steps should be taken to remove growing mistrust among investors and address the grievances and problems of the business community on priority grounds.
He said his party has already given a viable solution to current issues and demanded it to be implemented with true spirit.
He claimed that the country will lead to sustainable economic growth, stability, prosperity, and progress will come, if the ATP proposed plan was implemented.
