PESHAWAR
Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah emphasized the upcoming caretaker government must take practical steps to remove the miseries of inflation-stricken people.
Talking to different delegations here at the party’s central office on Thursday, he asserted it is the constitutional responsibility of the next interim government to conduct the general elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.
Besides holding free, fair and transparent elections, he said that the caretaker government will face a daunting task to tackle numerous challenges and public issues, like price-hike, unemployment and others as the next interim set up had been given unprecedented powers through legislation.
He said timely election is vital for flourishing democracy in the country, fearing that any delay will further political chaos and uncertainty in the country.
Faiq held the previous coalition government responsible for elevating the public’s problems.
He said the recently dissolved National Assembly failed to make legislation in public welfare. Laws were promulgated to shield their interests and personal politics, he added.
The ATP chairman termed the outgoing National Assembly as the “worst in the history of the country” which did not do legislation for providing relief to masses.
He said time has come to hold previous rulers accountable.
Now it is up to people to decide their better future by electing an honest and sincere leadership to steer the country out of the crisis, Shah remarked.
He reminded that his party was carrying out a vigorous campaign for public rights and justice, vowing that the struggle will be contained till provision of unprecedented authorities and powers to people.
The party leader said political, social and economic justice and public authority is our manifesto and agenda.
Shah also reiterated that they will hold strict accountability and assessment over non-provision of rights and justice to people whether it is caretaker government or any other.
