
Kundi currently serving PPP as its Central Information Secretary

Pakistan Peoples Party Central Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi took oath as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Governor House Peshawar on Saturday.
Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Ishtiaq Ibraheem administered the oath to the new governor KP.
Former Prime Minister Raja Pervaz Ashraf, federal minister and PML-N provincial president Engineer Amir Muhammad, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti, Ex MNA Mohsin Dawar, PPP leaders including Nadeem Afzal Chan, Nair Bukhara, members of the civil society and a large number of PPP workers attended the ceremony.
Chief Secretary KP Nadeem Aslam Chudary, IGP Akhter Hayat Gandapur, Commissioner Peshawar and other high-ups also attended the ceremony.
Faisal Karim Kundi was nominated by President Asif Ali Zardari to replace Haji Ghulam. He replaced Haji Ghulam Ali, a senior leader of JUI-F, who had been appointed as KP governor on November 22, 2022.
A notification from the Cabinet Division read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 101 of the Constitution, the President, on the advice of the Prime Minister, has been pleased to appoint Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi as Governor of the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
Mr Kundi is considered very close to Asif Ali Zardari and other senior leaders of PPP in the centre and currently serving the party as its Central Information Secretary for many months.
Having good relations with incumbent CM-KP and other political parties in KP, Faisal in his maiden speech said that in his new role he would try to maintain good relations with every party and play a role of bridge between centre and province.
Kundi has had a notable political career and served on key posts as representative of PPP. He hails from Dera Ismail Khan District
In the last general election, Faisal Karim Kundi faced a defeat against the PTI-backed independent candidate and CM-KP Ali Amin Gandapur. He was elected to the National Assembly from NA-24 as a candidate of PPP in the 2008 general election and was made deputy speaker of the National Assembly.
In September 2022, Faisal Karim Kundi was appointed by the then Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety.
