Awami National Party Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has hoped that Federal cabinet will approve the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) Reforms committee report adding that Prime Minister cannot afford to create new problems for him by sidelining this report.
He said this while talking to media persons along with elected National Assembly members of FATA on Thursday after federal cabinet meeting.
He said that federal government constituted a Reforms Committee for introducing reforms in FATA reforms which has submitted their report . We want that government should approve this report as it is so that tribal people get their due rights”.
ANP leader said that the elected members of FATA are our brothers and we will stand with them in whatever reforms they want.
He urged the government to accept reforms committee report in full. No alteration whatsoever should be made therein, he added.
First time in the history of Pakistan a step has been taken toward giving rights to people of tribal areas and we requested to government that it has to approve the Reforms committee report as it is without any amendment. He added.
Some people don’t want to give their rights to tribal people, he said adding this is the main reason they are avoiding to accept the committee’s report.
PM should analyze the current situation to reach a correct decision because he can not afford to create new problems by sidelining this report or making any changes therein due to some individual or group.
It is pertinent to mention here that FATA reforms Committee in the leadership of PM advisor on foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz had presented a report on FATA reforms while the member parliaments of FATA demanded to merge FATA into K-P.
