‘null and void’
ISLAMABAD
Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) has declared section 7-E of income tax law null and void.
As per media reports, the court dismissed appeals of FBR for restoration of section 7-E. All the steps taken by FBR under section 7-E have also been declared null and void. Under section -E tax was imposed on such plots which were not under use.
Islamabad and Lahore High Courts had declared section 7-E in accordance with the constitution.
FCC accepted pleas by citizens against the decisions of Islamabad and Lahore high courts
FCC had reserved judgment in case related to section 7-E on April 30.
