Keeping in view problems of tribal women, first ever female police officer posted in police station, Landi Kotal on Saturday, police sources said.
In an order, issued by the District Police office, the female junior officer, Mehak Pervaiz Maseeh was appointed an Additional Station House Officer (SHO) of Land Kotal police station.
Mehak Pervaiz is from the minority (Christian) community of Landi Kotal and presently residing in Christian colony, inside the forces cantonment.
The District Police Officer said that the purpose of the deployment was to encourage women folk in the tribal belt and to make possible access to justice.
Provision of favorable working conditions to the women officers was the first priority so that they could perform their duties without any pressure and delicately, the official added.
It is to be stated here that a women’s disk, set up in the police station, Bara last year had resolved thousands of problems of tribal women applicants.
