FIA foils Afghan passport smuggling attempt at Torkham

LANDIKOTAL: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration foiled a major passport smuggling attempt at Torkham Border and arrested an Afghan national,officials said on Tuesday. According to FIA officials, the accused, identified as Subhanullah from Jalalabad province in Afghanistan was stopped at Torkham and search his belongings. The officials said they recovered c25 Afghan passports recovered from his pssession. The passports, which bore Tajikistan visas, had been hidden inside soft drink cans. Following initial interrogation, the arrested man was handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking circle in Peshawar for further investigation. The officials said that it was believed that the arrested person was human trafficker and attempting to smuggle passports for human trafficking. Staff Reporter
