Finance Bill in KP proposes significant increase traffic fines

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to increase traffic fines in the 2025-26 budget. According to the Finance Bill on Tuesday, a separate category for three-wheeled vehicles has been introduced. Fines for vehicles such as Qingqi rickshaws and loader rickshaws are proposed to be raised from the current PKR 200 to as much as PKR 10,000. Sources indicate that violating route permits for Qingqi and loader rickshaws will result in a fine of PKR 5,000. In case of repeated violations, the fine will be doubled. The Finance Bill also proposes fines ranging from PKR 5,000 to PKR 10,000 for those driving with fake licenses. Additionally, there are proposed increases in fines for underage drivers. A fine of PKR 3,000 is suggested for individuals under 18 found riding motorcycles, while a fine of PKR 5,000 for underage drivers operating cars. APP
