ISLAMABAD: The Finance Ministry on Saturday rejected a social media report and clarified that no meeting was held between any Chinese economist and Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin in Islamabad. “Reference message in Urdu language being viral in social media with caption “Chinese economist slaps Pakistani Finance Minister over a joint session yesterday at Islamabad,” the Finance Division said in a clarification here. The clarification state: “It is once again clarified that this same message was made viral in social media some four months earlier in English only to damage the repute of the Finance Minister.” Finance Division at that time also clarified that no such meeting was held and the present message in Urdu language is just a replica of previous propaganda to harm the repute and prestige of the Finance Minister and put a negative impression into the minds of masses.
