FIPV campaign begins in Khyber

KHYBER: Remained suspended for a week, Fractional Inactivated Polio Vaccine (FIPV) drive kicked off in Khyber on Monday. Last week the campaign was suspended due to a boycott of the police forces to provide security to the polio teams in protest in Khyber. District Health Officer Dr Zafar confirmed the resumption of the anti-polio drive in Khyber and said teams are prepared to conduct the seven days long campaign across the district. As per the health department official besides Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) , a fractional dose of Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine to be administered in the ongoing campaign to eliminate the virus of the crippling disease, Polio. The official went on that children aging from four months to five years will be vaccinated with the FIPV in their right hands. Approximately 965 teams had been constituted to immunize 228000 children across the district. Two positive polio cases have been recorded so far in 2023 in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. APP
