GB secretary says commencement of foreign flights to Skardu will open new possibilities

PIA first international flight PK-234 landed from Dubai to Skardu.
Skardu has got status of International Airport after flight landed.
National Airline PIA has achieved another honor and introduced Skardu to entire world with the launch of these flights.
Tourists will be able to enjoy the breathtaking views of Jannat Nazir Gilgit Baltistan (GB) on an international flight.
Tourists will also get to see beautiful views of snow-capped Himalayan Mountains including K2 and Nanga Parbat during flights.
PIA weekly flights from Dubai to Skardu will play an important role in promoting tourism in Northern regions of Pakistan.
Tourists will now be able to reach by 3 and half hours direct flight from Dubai. A simple but grand ceremony was organized at Skardu Airport.
The passengers were welcomed by PIA Chief Executive officer Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, senior civil Aviation officials, other political and social figures and government officials.
Traditional caps and gifts of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) were distributed among passengers. The aircraft was also presented with water cannon salute by airport authorities on arrival.
The captain of the ship opened the cockpit window and hoisted national flag on occasion of Independence Day.
Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mohyuddin Wani said that tourism sector in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) will be boosted by start of international flight operations.
