Police claimed to have arrested five persons allegedly involved in street crimes in the limits of Suburb Circle Police.
According to DSP Mukhtiar Ali Khan the arrest was made during important operations under a new strategy to control street crimes in the provincial capital.
He said that the accused were members of two gangs involved in mobile snatching and other robberies at gunpoint.
Police have recovered eight motorbikes, Rs40,000, 14 valuable mobile phones from the accused possessions during the operation.
DSP said that some of the members apprehended for committing street crimes belonged to Afghanistan, adding that the gang was also allegedly involved in killing and injuring civilians during the robberies.
During the operation, the weapons used in the incidents, 4 pistols and ice were also recovered.
The operation was conducted by SHO Bhanamari Noor Haider Khan and SHO Agha Mir Jani Shah Police Station Abdullah Jalal along with the police team.
The arrested suspects have admitted to involvement in several incidents during the initial investigation and revealed names of their accomplices, DSP Suburb added.
