Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is of paramount importance for Pakistan and the region.
“ “Pakistan and China extended valuable assistance in advancing the peace efforts. The international community should continue persistent financial assistance to Afghanistan”, FM said this in a telephonic conversation with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The two have exchanged views at length on evolving situation in Afghanistan.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi apprised his Chinese counterpart about Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate the evacuation of personnel and staff of diplomatic missions, international organizations, media and others from Afghanistan.
He also informed his Chinese counterpart about the meeting of National Security Committee held under PM Imran Khan with reference to Afghan situation and future strategy.

He pointed out that Pakistan and China as part of Troika Plus, made valuable contributions to these efforts.
In the given situation, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said it is extremely important to ensure safety and security as protection of rights of the Afghan people.
He stressed that an inclusive political settlement is essential for which the Afghans should work together.
The Foreign Minister said it is equally important for the international community to remain engage in support of the Afghan people.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said both Pakistan and China are iron brothers and strategic partners. The financial assistance to Afghanistan should continue persistently, he added.
He said the two countries have the tradition of maintaining close coordination and communication on issues of common interest and significance.
Foreign Minister Qureshi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed to remain in close contact in connection with joint objectives particularly evolving situation in Afghanistan.
