Dera Police on high alert on Eid-ul-Fitr with all holidays of police officers canceled, blockade, checkpoints alerted by deployment of special commandos at the entrances and exits of the district where surveillance, aerial firing, fireworks, firecrackers and toy guns are banned, District Police Officer Dera Capt (retd) Najam Al Hasnain Liaqat here Sunday in a media briefing.
He further said that a comprehensive foolproof security plan for Eid-ul-Fitr has been formulated in the district to ensure protection of life and property of the people. To keep the traffic flowing, holidays of traffic staff have also been canceled, he informed.
Additional traffic warden police, Special Rider Squad has also been deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic at intersections, bazaars, circular roads and all congested places. In 2079 small and big mosques, Eidgah and Imam Bargha, Eid-ul-Fitr prayers gatherings will be held in the places for which all measures have been taken to ensure security to the worshipers.
Among them 90 mosques, Eid places and Imam bargahs have been declared as most sensitive while 140 have been declared as sensitive, he said, adding, “The entire district has been divided into six sectors including And drawers.”
The city of Dera has been divided into three parts for security purposes, DPO said. In addition to mobile and foot patrols, QRF, RRF and Alert Force have been deployed at key locations to deal with any untoward incident, he said.
More than 3,000 police personnel will be on duty in three shifts with 43 riders having been deployed in the same who will perform their duties. Holidays of police officers and recruits have been canceled for the larger public interest, Najam Al Hasnain said.
In addition to Topanwala Chowk, Kalan Bazaar, Ponda Bazaar, Muslim Bazaar, all commercial centers and markets will be patrolled on foot along the Indus River, he said. He said, surveillance will be carried out round the clock with the help of 180 hidden cameras across the district.
Police personnel in white clothes will be deployed while lady police will be on duty in the markets, DPO informed. He said, there is a complete ban on the display of weapons, while special measures have been taken to prevent aerial firing on the moon and night. Citizens should abide by the law while giving evidence, he appealed.
He said, happiness of an individual can take a precious life by firing in the air so that by taking timely action, the nefarious intentions of the anti-national elements can be reduced to dust. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Dera directed all Circle Officers, SHOs and in-charge outposts to be present in their area on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and to be on patrol with police personnel for public safety in case of any untoward incident. QRF, RRF and rescue teams should be ready at every police station level to deal with the incident.
