Four Army soldiers martyred, Major injured in Dir, Harnai terror hits: ISPR


Four Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in two different terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statements, in the first attack, two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in a bomb explosion in Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The ISPR said an improvised explosive device exploded as the security forces personnel passed by in general area Barawal of Dir District. Resultantly, Sepoy Sajid Ali (age 30 years and resident of Kotli, Azad Kashmir) and Sepoy Adnan Mumtaz (age 32 years, resident of Poonch, Azad Kashmir) embraced shahadat (martyrdom).
Following the incident, the security forces launched an operation to clear the area and eliminate any terrorists present in the region. The ISPR statement further said that the Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers will not go unpunished.
In the second incident reported miles in Balochistan, another ISPR statement said on the night between 13/14 August 2022, terrorists opened fire while raiding a security forces post in general area Khost, near Harnai in Balochistan.
Having successfully repulsed the distant fire raid, the escaping terrorists were pursued into the nearby mountains by the security forces personnel.
As a follow-up, during an encircling effort to cut off the fleeing terrorists, a heavy exchange of fire took place between the terrorists and a security forces patrol party as well.
During the skirmish, two valiant sons of soil, Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum embraced Shahadat besides Major Umer who got injured while causing heavy losses to the terrorists.
On the eve of 75th Independence Day, security forces, in step with the nation, remained determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging the peace, stability and progress of Balochistan, said the ISPR statement.
