The provincial government has included four new projects of small dams in the Public Sector Development Project (PSDP) for the financial year 2021-22, said a handout.
According to details, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan has said that four more projects of small dams have been included to PSDP for 2021-22 in order to ensure maximum availability of water for irrigation needs of the province.
Irrigation Minister Arshad Ayub Khan chaired a review meeting regarding the Small Dams Projects of Irrigation department in the province.
On this occasion, he was briefed that funds have been allocated for 15 small dams in the province under PSDP for the year 2021-22.
It said that currently 11 projects of small dams are under construction and during the ongoing financial year four new projects have been included in the PSDP on which work has already been started.
The review meeting was attended by Secretary Irrigation Ayaz Khan, Sahibzada Shabbir DG Small Dams, Chief Engineers and relevant project directors.
Arshad Ayub Khan also ordered the quarter concerned to hold monthly review meetings regarding small dams, adding that construction of small dams in the province was the manifesto of the PTI government.
The province will move towards food self-sufficiency while providing employment opportunities to the people he added.
During the meeting, the provincial minister was apprised of the utility of the project, cost, working conditions, costs and problems encountered.
The Provincial Minister for Irrigation took keen interest in the briefing and gave necessary instructions and orders on the spot. He directed the Secretary Irrigation to hold a review meeting on a monthly basis.
