Health department Punjab has abolished free nursing education in government nursing colleges.
Under new policy nursing students will be required to pay fee in thousands of rupees to acquire nursing education. The monthly scholarship facility has also been suspended and they will have to pay arrears of government hostel. Students with 50 percent marks in intermediate will be eligible to seek admission in nursing.
The condition of Punjab domicile has been made compulsory for seeking admission in nursing colleges.
Only male students will be eligible to seek admission in nursing college of Shahdra Teaching hospital.
100 seats each have been allocated in morning and evening shift at nursing colleges affiliated with teaching hospitals while 50 seats each have been allocated for both the shifts in nursing colleges affiliated with district hospitals.
