Gang busted, 11 vehicles recovered in Hayatabad

Hayatabad Police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang of auto and motorcycle thieves and recovered 11 stolen vehicles and 12 motorcycles from their possessions.
SP Cantt Muhammad Azhar Khan told reporters that the arrested persons have been identified as Malik Fahad, Bakhtawar Shah, Sajjad and Kamran residents of districts Khyber, Mardan and Charssadda.
Mr Azhar shared that the members of the gang were allegedly involved in car lifting and motorcycle snatching in the surrounding areas of Hayatabad. SP Cantt said that the criminal gang also includes an expert in tampering with the chassis of stolen vehicles.
The accused are involved in stealing valuable vehicles and motorcycles from commercial centers and residential areas, he added.
The accused are also involved in tampering with engines, chassis numbers of stolen vehicles and selling them at high prices after making fake documents.
During the successful operation police have also seized fake documents, fake number plates, various keys, and tampering equipment.
Some of the owners of the recovered vehicles have been traced and handed over their stolen vehicles.
