Faqirabad Division Police on Monday busted an inter-provincial liquor smugglers gang and seized 20740 bottles and 1860 liters of liquor from two warehouses.
Police had got a tip-off that liquor bottles were stored in two private warehouses at a residential area of Dalazak Road Peshawar. The important liquor was to be supplied to inner city and other areas to customers, said police.
Upon receiving the information, police team under the supervision of SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi, SP Faqirabad Division Osama Amin. Cheema, ASP Faqirabad Circle Aleem, and SHO Police Station Paharipura Qazi Nisar Ahmed along with in-charge Chowki Corporation Irshad Umar conducted a raid and recovered important liquor form two warehouses.
During the operation police also held two suspects involved in the liquor supply from the warehouses.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shehryar Ahmed and Abid Khan, resident of Shaghali. The liquor smugglers gang had rented the warehouses for the supply of drugs to various customers in the city, said police.
During the operation a total of 20740 bottles and 1860 liters of liquor recovered in the raid and police also seized Suzuki used for criminal activities.
During the preliminary investigation, the arrested accused of the network have confessed to manufacturing liquor and supplying it to certain dealers and have also given the names of other accused involved in the network who were arrested.
A case has been registered against the involved accused and more important revelations are expected from the arrested persons, said police.
