Chamkani Police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang involved in street crime and recovered looted items and weapons utilized in various crimes.
Police said that the arrested was made during an important operation carried out under the supervision of ASP Chamkani Syed Talal Ahmad Shah. The SHO of Chamkani Police Station Muhammad Ashfaq and SHO of Shahpur Police Station Akram Jan conducted the operation.
Looted items 56 valuable mobile phones, 11 motorcycles, Rs250000 cash, fake currency and weapons were recovered from the arrested persons during the operation, said police.
Police said that the gang was actively involved in street crime in Chamkani, Sardar Garhi, and Duranpur areas of the provincial capital.
During the initial investigation, the arrested suspects have revealed that they were allegedly involved in snatching and theft of valuable mobile phones, motorcycles and cash at gunpoint in different areas of Peshawar.
The resource involved in the gangs has also revealed the transaction of stolen motorbikes and mobile phones and selling them at exorbitant prices.
Among the arrested suspects of the gangs are also experts who changed the IMEI of mobile phones and changed engine chassis numbers of stolen motorcycles.
Police stated that more important revelations are expected from the arrested accused during the investigation.
ASP Chamkani Circle Syed Talal Ahmad Shah said that the original owners of the recovered motorcycles and valuable mobile phones were traced and the motorcycles and mobile phones were handed over to them.
