United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) has warned that Gaza is facing a huge food crisis and widespread hunger.
According to the Saudi news agency, the World Food Organization said yesterday (Friday) that only 10 percent of the necessary goods have entered Gaza since October 7.
Sandy McCain, executive director of the World Food Program, said that food and water deliveries to Gaza are negligible and very few essential goods are entering through the border. Due to the lack of food, ordinary citizens are at risk of immediate famine and it is impossible to meet the food needs of the people at this time by active border crossing alone.
He said that the only hope is to open another route to get food into Gaza.
Another official of the World Food Organization said that if urgent measures are not taken, Gaza is going to descend into a hell of hunger.
Last bakery in Gaza operated by the World Food Program also closed this week due to lack of fuel.
Organization said all 130 bakeries it works with in the Gaza Strip have closed due to fuel shortages, with bread, the staple food of Gazans, being in dire shortages in Gaza or in many areas. The fuel crisis has also adversely affected humanitarian aid operations and food distribution.
