ABBOTTABAD: The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) has generated revenue worth Rs160 million to meet its development and non-development needs for the current year.
“This year the GDA did not get budget from the provincial government and generated its own resources,” stated GDA Director Administration Raza Ali Habib while briefing newsmen at his office on Sunday.
Providing the copies of the GDA Act 2016, Raza Ali said that the GDA director general was given magisterial powers and he could seal any illegal building. The duration of the GDA board members and director general have been limited to three years. He also said that they have generated the GDA budget from their own resources, which he called a success.
The director administration stated that a 27km road from Barian to Nathiagali costing Rs840 million has been completed. “About 29km link roads costing Rs710 million would be completed by the end of this month,” he added.
He said that 80 percent work on face-lifting of five bazaars has been completed and three new parks have been developed at Nathiagali, Ayubia and Dunga Gali for tourists. He also mentioned a number of other projects being implemented in the area.
Replying to a query, he said the encroachment campaign against illegal buildings and illegal water connections and 60 illegal water connections of hotels were disconnected, besides legal action including fine. At least 27 persons were fined for illegal houses construction while 12 illegal cabins were also removed.
