The prices of gold witnessed a sharp increase in the local market on Saturday, with the price of 24-karat gold per tola rising by Rs2,200 to settle at Rs456,536, according to rates issued by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold increased by Rs1,887 to Rs391,406, whereas 10 grams of 22-karat gold rose by Rs1,729 to Rs358,801.
In the international market, the price of gold increased by $22 to $4,341 per ounce, the association reported.
Meanwhile, the price of silver per tola decreased by Rs113 to Rs6,826, while the price of 10 grams of silver fell by Rs97 to Rs5,852.
The price of silver in the international market also declined by $1.13 to $63.47 per ounce, the association added.
