PESHAWAR
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday assured a delegation of tribal elders from the Suleman Khel tribe of Lower Waziristan that their demands would be taken up with the relevant provincial and federal authorities for early resolution.
The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation led by tribal chief Malik Ishaq Suleman Khel at the Governor House.
The delegation included Malik Haji Sher Muhammad Khan, Sardar Wali Khan, Haji Sarwar Khan, Malik Momin Khan, Ghafoor Khan, Amir Khan and other elders.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the prevailing security situation in Lower Waziristan, particularly in the areas inhabited by the Suleman Khel tribe, besides issues relating to basic civic amenities, development projects, education, healthcare, communications, administrative affairs and other longstanding problems facing the area.
The delegation presented a comprehensive memorandum to the Governor highlighting key demands aimed at addressing underdevelopment and longstanding deprivation in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that the people of the merged tribal districts had rendered immense sacrifices for the country and the province, adding that ensuring the resolution of their basic issues and providing them with equal development opportunities was a collective responsibility.
He said that restoration of lasting peace remained among the government’s top priorities and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces, police, other law enforcement agencies and the local people.
The Governor assured the delegation that their memorandum would be formally forwarded to the relevant provincial and federal departments and progress reports would be sought from the concerned authorities regarding implementation of their demands.
He said all possible efforts would be made in coordination with the relevant institutions to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, communications, water supply and electricity facilities in Lower Waziristan and other tribal districts to ensure sustainable development and remove longstanding deprivation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the tribal elders presented a traditional turban to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi as a mark of respect.
