Says Investors must come forward for KPK
Peshawar(PR): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra claimed on Thursday that decisions pertaining to future of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) would be carried out in accordance to the wishes and wills of tribesmen.
Speaking to participants during the inaugural ceremony of Medi Bank, a welfare foundation at Dogra Hospital in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency, he said the Fata Reforms Committee (FRC) held meetings with all thoughts of people from tribal areas in order to incorporate their valuable views and opinions in devising reforms package.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Nasir Khan Afridi, Senator Momin Khan Afridi, Political Agent Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood, Assistant Political Agent Bara tehsil, elders, maliks and other tribesmen were also in attendance on the occasion.
Governor KP eulogized the welfare step taken by Medi Bank chief Javid Nisar for opening such program in Dogra Hospital which will provide patients free medicines. He said the residents of Bara tehsil will get benefits in shape of medicine and other facilities from the said program. Mr Jhagra claimed the government was also taking all possible steps in available resources for uplift of FATA after repatriation of displaced persons to their hometowns.
Reiterating his stance, he also said the federal government would take decision with regard to fate of Fata in light of recommendations given by people of tribal belt and no decision against the wishes of them would be carried out. He also announced that a mega sports festival would also be held in Khyber Agency in forthcoming time in which student from government institutions and private schools will participate.
The Medi Bank will start its function in hospital from today (Friday) and free medicines would be provided to tribesmen from it as it has medicines of Rs 1.5 million.
MNA Nasir Khan, Political Agent Khyber, Khalid Mehmood, Medi Bank Chief Javid Nisar and others also delivered their speeches on the occasion and appreciated the welfare steps taken for providing free medicines to tribes. Mean whileThe Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagrha has said that for attracting new investment and generating employment opportunities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA the Federal Government has announced tax holiday for new investments in the whole of the province from July 2015 to June 2018. Thus, in view of its rich natural resources and hardworking labour force, these incentives will accelerate the pace of development in the Province.
Addressing the concluding session of the “Made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa|” exhibition, arranged by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a local hotel in Islamabad the Governor said that security, law and order situation in the Province has been restored. The Governor said that he was impressed by the courage and commitment of the entrepreneurs from the Province who despite their hardships and difficult conditions continued to manufacture such a quality products. The Governor said that all those who have showcased the products of their respective industrial units are rendering a great service not only to the people of the Province but for the nation as well.
The Governor also called upon foreign investors to come forward and invest in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA the region which bears not only a great potential but also offers great attractions for secured investment.
The Governor admitted that it is a better reality that economy of KP had severely suffered because of the natural calamities, TDP, FATA, the Earthquake – 2005 and the Flood havocs of 2010 in particular. The infrastructure was destroyed and the people displaced in millions but the entrepreneurs deserve tributes for surviving through all the hostile circumstances. This initiative on part of the organizers will lead to restore the job opportunities of the millions of our skilled and non-skilled workers. The Governor said that in the back-drop of these ground realities, holding of “Made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Exhibition” would bring a pleasant impact on the overall investment climate of the province and therefore, proposed that such exhibitions should be organized throughout all big cities of the country and assured his full support to the organizers in this regard.
Earlier, the Governor visited each and every stall at the exhibition, inquired after the background to the products so displayed and listens to the problems and suggestions of the entrepreneurs.
