NAB-KP handovers properties worth Rs1.117 billion to government depts

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shah Farman on Tuesday appreciated the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) zero tolerance policy against corruption in the country.
He expressed these views during his visit to the NAB-KP office.
On this occasion Shah Farman was briefed on the steps being taken by the NAB against corruption and cases of the bureau.
Governor KP said that the anti-corruption watchdog’s commitment to eradicate corrupt practices and bring transparency in utilization of government funds is commendable.
Shah Farman also participated in an anti-corruption awareness walk with DG NAB and NAB Peshawar employees.
On this occasion, the Governor was briefed by DG NAB Brigadier Nasir Farooq Awan on the overall performance of NAB Peshawar. NAB Peshawar recovered Rs 15 billion in various cases.
Governor was informed that around 1940 inquiries were completed while 371 references were also completed.
He said that it was very important to create awareness among the people against corruption and change the mindset of the people.
Shah Farman on the occasion awarded certificates of appreciation to the best performing officers and officials in NAB Peshawar. NAB claimed that it recovered properties worth Rs1.117 billion and handed it over to government departments including National Highway Authority (NHA) and Pakistan Post.
As per details issued by the NAB-KP started the year 2022 with an Anti-Corruption Awareness walk which was followed by best officers awards distribution ceremony and handing over of recovered properties to the concerned departments.
Brigadier (r) Farooq Naser Awan (SIM) informed that NAB has 100 percent disposal rate of the complaints. He also highlighted that since inception the provincial bureau has completed 1940 inquiries and filed 371 references in Accountability Courts.
So far around Rs.15 billion has been recovered by NAB KP has a conviction rate of 57 percent highest among all anti-corruption agencies of Pakistan.
In the end, Governor-KP Shah Farman handed over properties worth Rs723 Million to Addl Secretary Finance, Properties worth Rs 212 million were handed over to member NHA and properties worth Rs 180 Million to DG Pakistan Post.
