Govt put on notice on petition against hike in prices of petroleum products

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing notice to federal government on the petition against hike in the prices of petroleum products has sought reply. Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh of LHC took up for hearing petition filed by an advocate. The petitioner has taken the plea the price of petroleum products has been increased by Rs 55 per liter. It should be informed government fixes the prices of petroleum products under what mechanism. I am demanding from the government the mechanism for fixing the prices since 2022. The counsel for the federal government said the prices are determined in the light of OGRA’s summary. The counsel for petitioner said government should tell in writing what it has to tell. It is pertinent to mention here minster for petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik had announced a big increase in the price of petrol and diesel per litter some days back. ONLINE
