ISLAMABAD: Federal government has refused to provide assistance and become respondent in Dr Aafia Siddiqui case in US Court. Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan took up for hearing Dr Fouzia Siddiqui petition pertaining to health of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her repatriation . . Imran Shafiq, counsel for petitioner, Additional Attorney General (AAG) and others appeared in the court. The court sought reasons from government for not becoming respondent in case in US court. AAG told the court government has declined to become respondent and provide assistance to court in US in Dr Aafia Siddiqui case. The court inquired this decision was taken for what reason and what are the reasons. AAG told the court only this decision has been made by the government. The court remarked when government or Attorney General make any decision then there are reasons in taking the decision. No decision is taken without reasons. This is constitutional court. It can not happen so that some one says to court that decision has been made and does not inform the court about reasons. Online
