The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has dispatched a mobile water testing laboratory to areas affected by reports of a cholera outbreak in Ashiri Dara and other parts of Upper Dir following directives from Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Fazl Shakoor Khan.
According to a handout issued on Wednesday, the PHED Batkhela Mobile Water Testing Laboratory team reached the affected areas and collected drinking water samples from various locations for detailed analysis to identify possible causes of contamination and assess water quality.
The department’s team also carried out awareness activities among local residents, highlighting the importance of consuming safe and clean drinking water. Chlorine tablets were distributed among affected communities to help disinfect water supplies and reduce the risk of waterborne diseases. Khan directed the relevant authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of water quality, provide safe drinking water to affected residents and take immediate measures to protect public health.
