Govt taking steps to ensure best sanitation services: Secy local govt

The Secretary Local government department Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam has said that the provincial government was taking effective steps to provide the best sanitation services to its citizens at their doorsteps, adding that the Integrated Resource Recovery Center of WSSCM was contributing a lot in making environment clean and green.
He expressed these views while visiting to Water and Sanitation Services Mardan (WSSM) and newly launched Integrated Resource Recovery Center for recycling waste into organic fertilizers.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) WSSM Engineer Amir Khan briefed him on the operations and management of the plant.
“Integrated Resource Recovery Center is the only established center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” CEO shared.
He said that this was a multi-Purpose facility which will contribute towards clean and green environment, promote organic farming in the province and will also put a positive impact in employment generation in this particular field as the slogan of the project is “Trash is Cash”.
Engineer Amir Khan added that Integrated Resource Recovery Center in Mardan has been set up for the purpose that waste in Mardan was no longer a problem but it has been now converted into organic fertilizer through scientific methods which is useful for agricultural crops, increased productivity and yields.
He highlighted that the company has formulated an integrated strategy to make Mardan city clean and One hundred Eighty tons of waste is safely disposed off.
“Under the IRRC system five tons of organic waste is converted into organic fertilizers on daily basis, he added.
The establishment of IRRC Mardan will definitely reduce the volume of garbage and will decrease the environmental pollution as well as less burden on landfill sites.
While appreciating the performance of WSSCM Secretary Local Government Syed Zaheer-Ul-Islam stated that IRRC is an excellent system to decrease environmental pollution.
He said that various organizations of local government would also take full advantage in research and technical fields of WSSCM’s IRRC facility.
He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Amir Khan and his team.
Deputy Commissioner Mardan Habibullah Arif, Chief Executive Officer WSSP Dr. Hassan Nasir, General Manager Zameer-ul-Hassan, General Manager WSSCM Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar, Manager HR and Administration Imran Afridi, Manager Planning and Projects Imran Zaman, Manager Planning WSSP Muhammad Saeed were also present on this occasion.
