HARIPUR
A gas leakage incident near Kangra Colony in Haripur claimed the life of a 44-year-old man on Saturday.
According to Rescue 1122 Haripur, Qazi Tahir, a resident of Dounali, was found unconscious in a room near the Kangra Colony post office after gas accumulated inside the closed space. He could not survive the incident and was pronounced dead. The medical team of Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the Trauma Center for post-mortem.
Officials said that such incidents frequently occur across the Hazara division during winter, when residents use gas heaters, cylinders, and other heating appliances in poorly ventilated rooms. In recent years, sldozens of people in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, and surrounding areas have lost their lives due to gas leakage and suffocation, particularly during cold spells.
Rescue and health authorities have repeatedly urged the public to take precautionary measures, including ensuring proper ventilation, regular inspection of gas appliances, and avoiding the use of faulty heaters and cylinders indoors.
Rescue 1122 reiterated its appeal to citizens to remain vigilant during the winter season to prevent further loss of precious lives due to avoidable gas-related accidents.
