A heatwave alert has been issued for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with meteorological authorities warning of much hot and humid conditions over the coming days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department on Saturday, a significant rise in temperature combined with increased humidity levels is expected to create intense discomfort for residents. The combination of heat and moisture may lead to oppressive weather conditions, making it feel much hotter than the actual temperature.
Experts indicate that southern and plain districts of the province, already known for warm and humid climates are likely to experience temperatures above normal. Alongside rising temperatures, humidity levels are also expected to increase, intensifying the overall heat impact.
Meteorologists warn that areas with limited air circulation and higher moisture content will be particularly affected. This phenomenon is commonly associated with a higher heat index, where the perceived temperature exceeds the actual measured temperature.
While minor fluctuations in weather patterns are possible, the overall outlook suggests that most hot and humid regions of the province will face severe heat conditions in the coming days.
Authorities advise the public to take precautionary measures, stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
