Heavy snowfall continues in parts of Balochistan, emergency declared

Emergency has been declared Sunday in Balochistan as heavy snowfall continues for second day in different parts. The ground contact of Quetta has been cut-off with Ziarat, Qilla Saifullah, Zhob, Loralai, Chaman, Bolan and Kalat. Two feet of snow, which is falling in patches, has been recorded so far in some areas of Quetta and three feet on the mountains of Ziarat and Kalat.
Moreover, traffic on roads is blocked and Sibi-Guddu transmission line has also tripped due to which Quetta, Chaman,Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin and other areas have been deprived of electricity.
Business is completely shut down due to intense weather conditions and people are also facing transportation problems.

Forces mobilized for rescue in Balochistan

Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Khan Zehri has taken strict notice of traffic blockage in Lak Pass and Bolan in the wake of the on-going heavy snowfall. He has instructed the National Highway Authority, Communications Department and the district management to immediately take steps for opening the both the highways to restore flow of traffic.
He has also directed the concerned officials to provide all possible facilities to the stranded passengers.
Meanwhile, Army and FC troops have been employed to clear snow and restore traffic after heavy snow blocked roads in Chitral and Balochistan, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Sunday. FC Balochistan has established Crisis Management Centre at Quetta, Sibi, ziarat, pishin, Loralai, Kalat and Khuzdar.

Heavy snow blocked the roads in Chitral and Balochistan on Sunday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army and Frontier Corps (FC) troops were employed to clear snow and restore traffic.
It is pertinent to mention here that Lawari Tunnel in Chitral and roads from Quetta to Karachi National Highway 25, Quetta to Sukkur National Highway 65 and Taftan to Quetta National Highway opened on Saturday night. FC Balochistan has established Crisis Management Centre at Quetta, Sibi, Ziarat, Pishin, Lora Lai, Kallat and Khuzdar.
Whereas army assistance camps have been established at Panakot and Malakand Division for public assistance in coordination with local administrations.
