The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is proud to announce the commencement of the Provincial Sports Gala 2024-25, a historic event that brings together approximately 2,000 elite male and female student-athletes from 320 colleges across the seven divisions of the province.
This momentous occasion is a testament to the department’s commitment to promoting a sports culture, youth development, and healthy competition within educational institutions. The event is a celebration of physical abilities, unity, perseverance, and excellence that defines the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Honorable Chief Minister KP Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, who was the chief guest at the opening ceremony and inaugurated inter-colleges sports gala 2025, appreciated the efforts of the Higher Education Department in promoting sports and youth development. He emphasized the importance of sports in building character, teaching life lessons, and fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Minister HED Meena Khan Afridi emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities, particularly sports, in character-building, fostering resilience, and instilling discipline. “We firmly believe that education is not confined to textbooks and classrooms alone.
True learning happens when young minds are given opportunities to engage in sports and other activities,” she said.
Secretary HED Kamran Afridi inaugurated the event, stating, “This Sports Gala is a significant milestone in our journey to promote holistic development of our students. We are proud to provide a platform for our youth to showcase their talents, build character, and foster resilience.”
The Provincial Sports Gala 2024-25 features 11 games for female and 12 games for male student-athletes, with approximately 2,000 participants competing in various events. The event is a significant step towards promoting sports culture and youth development in the province.
