Calls for boosting economic cooperation among D-8 nations
ISLAMABAD
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar is representing Pakistan at 20th Developing-Eight Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting to be hosted by Bangladesh in hybrid format Wednesday.
Virtually addressing the 20th Session of D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers, hosted by Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has called for creating a Private Sector Coordination Facility to boost economic cooperation among the Developing-Eight countries.
The Minister of State emphasized the need for creating a conducive environment for trade through facilitative legal frameworks and equal opportunities for investment and business.
Highlighting geo strategic location of Pakistan, she said this will rapidly turn into a geo economic dividend through China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
She said the special economic zones along the length and breadth of the CPEC are meant to attract investments. Earlier, the Council decided to fully operationalize the Preferential Trade Agreement by 31st October this year to achieve the intra-D-8 trade target of 500 billion dollars.
