At least three people including husband and wife were killed in a firing incident that took place inside a house in Sheikh Maltoon Town of Mardan during the small on Tuesday.
According to Sheikh Maltoon police gunmen entered the residence and indiscriminately fired at the occupants, killing a man, his wife and her brother at the scene.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving information and recovered the bodies from inside the house.
The attack has created fear and panic among local residents, while the suspects managed to escape from the scene.
Police have cordoned off the area and begun collecting evidence. Investigators are examining various angles of the case, including the possibility of targeted killing or personal enmity.
The District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan visited the crime scene and ordered a thorough investigation. Special police teams have been formed to track down and arrest the perpetrators.
