Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday handed over a modern B7 protection level armoured personnel carrier (APC) to Bannu region police during a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in Peshawar.
The IGP personally inspected the armoured vehicle and reviewed its operational capabilities based on his professional experience and observations.
According to police officials, the latest APC Protector is equipped with advanced B7 ballistic protection features and a Remote Control Weapon System (RCWS), enabling personnel inside the vehicle to operate mounted weapons without exposing themselves to danger.
The vehicle is also fitted with a WB-300 jammer capable of disrupting signals of remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs), helping prevent potential terrorist attacks and enhancing operational safety.
Officials said the state-of-the-art armoured vehicle would significantly strengthen police operations against militants and criminal elements in the sensitive and challenging region of Bannu.
The chief of KP police stated that the provincial government is taking all possible steps to enhance the operational capacity of the Police and ensure the protection of personnel engaged in counterterrorism duties.
It was further stated that bulletproof vehicles, modern weapons, and other necessary equipment are continuously being provided to police units in Bannu and other vulnerable districts to improve policing and address terrorism-related threats effectively.
Police officials said similar B7 protection level APCs had already been provided to other districts. The vehicle is capable of withstanding fire from high-velocity and sniper rifles, while the RCWS allows officers to accurately engage targets through internal monitors and control systems.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed said all available resources were being utilized under the directives of the provincial government to address security challenges and ensure effective policing in the province.
He said efforts were underway to equip police with modern weapons, vehicles, and professional training, while ensuring that all operational and professional requirements of the force are fulfilled to effectively counter terrorist threats.
