Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) South Major General Muhammad Munir has stressed on working together for the lasting peace, progress and prosperity in South Waziristan.
He expressed these views while addressing an introductory grand jirga with Darey Mehsud tribes at Captain Sikandar Shaheed Camp Sector Headquarters South in Tank.
He said that Pakistan Army and FC South will not spare any sacrifice, adding that talks will be held with those who have adopted the path of peace while those who have challenged the writ of the state will be dealt with iron hands restoring peace in South Waziristan. The meeting was attended by DG FC South Shahid Khan, Sector Commander South Brigadier Naik Nam Baig, Commanding Officer 25 Sindh Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Sher Alam Khan, tribal elders and other security personnel.
Major General Muhammad Munir said that better law and order situation was essential for the development and prosperity of any region, therefore we must all work together for lasting peace in South Waziristan.
He said Mehsud tribes are patriots who not only migrated in the war against terrorism for the survival and security of the country in difficult circumstances but also made immense sacrifices together with the Armed Forces of Pakistan, he said. Therefore, the Armed Forces of Pakistan lauded their sacrifices. He said that the uniforms worn by the soldiers and officers of Pakistan Army for the survival and security of the country, adding that even children were also affected and we considered them our own children.
“Therefore, we have to work to avoid further losses in which the cooperation of the people is required and for the sake of prosperity, Referring to CLCP, the IGFC said that he asked administration for timely payment to the affected families of South Waziristan waiting for housing allowances to the affected families.
He said that he also asked to take practical steps to resolve the issue on a permanent basis. The Corps Commander will soon visit Wana to discuss the establishment of the district, network restoration and other issues, where he will also meet Mehsud tribal elders. He said that Pakistan Army is committed to development works and reconstruction of the area in South Waziristan and all resources are being utilized in this regard.
He said that only those nations develop which adorn themselves with the adornment of education. “Pakistan Army is trying to promote educational activities in South Waziristan. So that the children of these areas can read and write. On the occasion, the tribal elders welcomed the new IGFC on their appointment and dressed them in the traditional attire of Mehsud elders. They also informed him about the public and regional issues. “I have performed my duties here before and I am well aware of the problems here.” IG FC said.
At the end, IGFC South Major General Muhammad Munir thanked the tribal elders.
