Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art, fully digitalised Driving Licence Branch at Traffic Headquarters Peshawar under the “One Window Licensing” system.
The initiative aimed at facilitating citizens by providing new licences, renewals and related services under one roof through a streamlined and technology-driven system.
Upon arrival at Traffic Lines Gulbahar, the IGP was presented a smart salute by the City Traffic Police. He later visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha for police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Senior officers including Additional IG Headquarters Abbas Ahsan, Additional IG Investigation Alam Shinwari, CCPO Peshawar Saeed Khan, DIG Headquarters Abbas Majeed Marwat and Chief Traffic Officer Dr Zahidullah attended the ceremony.
After formally inaugurating the facility, the IGP inspected various sections of the branch and reviewed the digital system, counters and service procedures. Officials briefed him that modern digital screens had been installed to reduce waiting times and manage public rush, while trained staff had been deployed at all counters to assist applicants.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hameed said improving transparency and simplifying the licensing process remained a top priority of the KP Police. He said the force was adopting modern technology to enhance service delivery and bring public offices in line with international standards.
He added that the objective was to promote responsible and law-abiding driving while ensuring citizens could obtain legal documents without unnecessary hurdles.
