Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday inaugurated a police facilitation centre and launched key components of the Safe City project during a visit to Nowshera, where he reviewed policing performance and ongoing development initiatives.
Upon arrival at Pabbi Police Station, the IGP was received by Regional Police Officer Mardan Rab Nawaz Khan, District Police Officer Ahmed Shah and other senior officials.
The IGP inaugurated the newly constructed Police Facilitation Centre at Pabbi Police Station, equipped with modern public service facilities. He inspected various sections of the centre and appreciated the improved infrastructure, saying such initiatives would enhance service delivery and strengthen public confidence in the police.
He also visited the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) in Pabbi and met its members, praising their role in providing free and timely resolution of public disputes.
Later, Mr Hameed laid the foundation stone of a secure control room under the Nowshera Safe City Project at Police Lines. Officials briefed him on the project, which aims to introduce modern surveillance through high-resolution cameras and a central command system.
The IGP said the Safe City project would mark a significant step towards improving security and ensuring effective monitoring across the district, adding that it would help guarantee peace and a safer urban environment.
During a high-level meeting, the provincial police chief said the KP Police had faced terrorism challenges with resilience and continued to perform its frontline role effectively. He said efforts were under way to improve police welfare, training standards and infrastructure.
Later, during a visit to Mardan, the IGP chaired a meeting of regional police officers, where he was briefed on the law and order situation. He ordered stronger campaigns against militancy and gun culture, and called for activating DRCs and public liaison committees to improve community engagement.
