Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed has taken serious notice of the abduction of five-year-old Ayat Noor from the jurisdiction of TIP Police Station in Haripur. Police have identified five suspects through scientific investigation and human intelligence and arrested two of them, including the alleged main suspect. However, the child remains missing.
A joint investigation team has been formed under the supervision of the SSP Investigation Haripur to probe the case. The team includes SP Security Samina Zafar, DSPs City and Investigation, IT experts, Counter Terrorism Department officials, the District Security Unit and local police personnel. The IGP has directed police to use all available resources to recover the missing child. DPO Haripur is directly supervising the investigation, while several police teams are conducting operations to locate Ayat Noor and apprehend other suspects involved in the abduction.
According to police, CCTV footage and geofencing data were analyzed using modern scientific investigation techniques and human intelligence, leading to the identification of five suspects. Police subsequently arrested two suspects, while raids are being conducted at various locations to arrest the remaining suspects.
Police said the alleged main suspect, Usman, confessed before a judicial magistrate, while another arrested suspect, Talha, was sent to jail under the Juvenile Justice System due to his young age. Meanwhile, police obtained a two-day physical remand of suspect Qasim for further investigation.
Police teams are using information obtained from the arrested suspects, CCTV footage and other available sources to trace the remaining suspects and recover the child.
Hazara Regional Police Officer Nasir Mehmood Satti also visited Haripur and reviewed the progress of the investigation in detail. He met the affected family and assured them of all possible cooperation.
IGP Zulfiqar Hameed said the police were committed to protecting vulnerable segments of society, particularly women and children. He said no effort would be spared to recover the missing girl and bring those responsible to justice through a thorough investigation and strong evidence.
