827 cases reported against govt officials and employees

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said that there was no room for corrupt elements in the province, reiterating that the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption will be strictly enforced.
He made the remarks while chairing a meeting on accountability proceedings against government officers and employees, according to an official statement. The statement said that the meeting was given a detailed briefing on disciplinary and accountability actions taken since October 2025.
According to the briefing, a total of 827 cases were reported against government officials and employees during the period. Of these, 629 cases have been decided, while proceedings in 198 cases are still under way.
Among the 629 decided cases, 589 officials and employees were penalised through various disciplinary actions, while 40 were exonerated of the charges.
The briefing said 128 employees were removed from service, 18 were dismissed and six were compulsorily retired. In addition, two employees were demoted, one was arrested, salary recoveries were ordered against 89 employees, and promotions of 39 employees were withheld.
Show-cause notices were issued to 16 employees, salary cuts imposed on 14 and 10 employees suspended. A further 155 employees were warned and 52 reprimanded.
Unauthorised absence emerged as the most common offence, accounting for 447 cases, or 54 per cent of the total. The cases also included 120 instances of negligence in duty, 75 cases of corruption and financial irregularities and 75 cases of incompetence. Fourteen cases of misconduct, 13 of poor supervision and 11 violations of rules were also reported.
The meeting was further informed that accountability proceedings included 221 show-cause notices, 279 cases seeking explanations, 184 inquiries, 102 suspensions, 23 expressions of displeasure and nine cases in which employees were placed at the disposal of the Services and General Administration Department (OSD).
Department-wise, 305 cases originated from district offices, 263 from attached departments and institutions and 259 from central departments.
The meeting was also informed about disciplinary action taken during field visits to health facilities. As many as 90 officers and employees of the District Headquarters Hospital Swabi and 61 officials of the District Headquarters Hospital Lakki Marwat were suspended.
The chief minister said accountability was above everyone and transparency in the government system was a top priority. He added that the provincial government would make no compromise on good governance, merit and transparency.
He said the zero-tolerance policy against corruption was being implemented strictly and warned that corruption, financial irregularities, misuse of authority, negligence of duty and unauthorised absence would not be tolerated.
Afridi directed the relevant authorities to bring all pending accountability cases to their logical conclusion at the earliest and strictly on merit.
He stressed that transparency, impartiality and complete compliance with legal requirements must be ensured during accountability proceedings so that no innocent person was subjected to injustice and no guilty individual was allowed to escape accountability.
The chief minister said the people had entrusted the present government with the responsibility of establishing a transparent, accountable and public-friendly system, which, he added, would be fulfilled at all costs.
